Committee Minutes

Minutes of the Meeting held on 3 October 2006 at 9 Frosterley Close, Newton Hall, Durham

Present: D Gibson, D Sowerbutts, J Hogg, R Logan, R Cowen.

1. Apologies:
None.

2. Minutes of last meeting
Accepted.

3. Matters arising

» Julie said she now had speakers for all dates - but this had been hard work.

» The new format of the Newsletter was welcomed but Julie and Ray will check to see if the arrangement can be improved.

» Richard mentioned that he had made some enquires concerning spraying set aside land but had not had a response.

4. Correspondence
David G produced a number of letters that had been received.  Ones of note were:

» Details of a number of speakers but none nearer than Sheffield.

» He had a number of Magazines, the most interesting locally being Saltholme News.

» RSPB Feed the Birds Day is October 28 and is mentioned in the September Newsletter.  It should be mentioned also at the October meeting.

» Richard mentioned he had written to Easington District about their proposed Development Framework.  He considered they should take account of the Little Terns nesting at Crimdon Dene.  He also considered that Hurworth Burn should be recognised as a special site for birds when considering renewable energy proposals.

5. Holy Island
David S noted 24 people had now booked for this trip.

9. AOB
David S mentioned Bank Mandates were now available for signing.

Ray suggested ways be looked at to increase membership e.g. coordinating groups for local patches.  It was agreed this should be considered further at the next meeting.
