Tuesday 14th October - 'A Life of Ospreys' with Roy Dennis
Roy Dennis, MBE, is a professional ornithologist and wildlife.  One of world's leading experts on Ospreys (and other raptors), Roy has been working with Ospreys in Scotland since the 1960s, and has been a field ornithologist in the Scottish Highlands and Islands since the 1950s.  Roy worked for the RSPB from 1971-91.  He's studied wildfowl, wading birds and sea birds, but is best known for his work on reintroductions, conservation of rare species and more recently with satellite tracking of Ospreys, Honey Buzzards and Marsh Harriers.  He's been a leading player in reintroducing Sea Eagles, Red Kites and Ospreys.  For his services to conservation, Roy received the RSPB's prestigious Golden Eagle award and was made an MBE in 2004.  Roy has published several books on Scottish wildlife, regularly writes in magazines and has presented several television documentaries.  A visit from such a prestigious speaker should get our new indoor programme off to an exciting start.
Please note that this meeting will be held in Room CG85, University of Durham Science Site, Stockton Road, Durham. Entrance will be £2.

Tuesday 11th November - 'RSPB's Volunteer & Farmer Alliance Scheme and Farmland Birds' with Sarah Dullage
Recent concerns over rising grain prices, increased bio-fuels production, and the ending of the set-a-side scheme, makes the future of our farmland birds a particularly topical issue.  Sarah Dullage is the RSPB's Project Officer for the Volunteer & Farmer Alliance Scheme, which provides information and support for farmers who want to do more to help wildlife on their farms.  It is hoped that this service, which is free to farmers, will help them tap into new sources of income and improve conservation management for farmland birds.

Tuesday 9th December - 'Durham Wildlife Trust' with Adam Eagle
Adam Eagle is the Marketing Manager for Durham Wildlife Trust.  The DWT manages 25 Nature Reserves, a variety of species and habitat recovery projects and four Visitor Centres.  They also have an extensive environmental education programme that aims to engage schools, community groups, whole communities and individuals in issues around nature conservation and the wider environment.
